En modifierad teknik för mandibulär Ramus Sagittal Bilateral sagittal split osteotomies; INR = International normalized ratio; IVRO = Intraoral vertical ramus osteotomy; NSAID = Non-steroid antiinflammatory drugs; osteotomy sagittal split ramus.
However, several disadvantages, such as fracture, bleeding, infection, and TMD, were found after bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy (BSSRO). PURPOSE: The aim of the present study was to morphometrically analyze the mandibular canal through the mandibular ramus by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and to relate the findings to performing sagittal split ramus osteotomy. METHODS: CBCT of 200 patients were analyzed. Objectives: This study investigated the different effects of intraoral vertical ramus osteotomy (IVRO) and sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO) on mandibular border movement. Methods: The participants included 22 patients receiving IVRO and 22 patients receiving SSRO who were treated at Okayama University Hospital. To assess new bone formation after sagittal split ramus osteotomy, the echo intensities of ultrasound (US) reflections of the proximal segment, distal segment, and bone gap were measured with a real‐time US scanner at 1 day, 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks, and 2 and 4 months postoperatively.

J Craniomaxillofac Surg 38(7):522–528. Article Google Scholar 9. Sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO) is one of the most common maxillofacial operations, and the technique relies on a directed fracture involving different biomechanical variables. The aim of this study was to find out the biomechanical characteristics involved during each step of sagittal split osteotomy.

Senare kom den sagittala ramusosteotomin (sagittal split) att bli dominerande då den var användbar vid Sagittal split osteotomy of mandibular ramus. The sagittal split osteotomy (SSO) is then completed along the medial ramus and inferior border. After separation of the proximal and distal segments, the patient is wired in MMF using a prefabricated splint. The segments are then rigidly fixated per standard technique. The Bilateral Sagittal Split Mandibular Ramus Osteotomy Step 1—infiltrate the soft tissue with vasoconstrictor. The lips should be kept lubricated with steroid ointment Step 2—the soft tissue incision. An incision is made through the mucosa, muscle, and periosteum from just lingual to the Step
In 1953, the sagittal ramus split osteotomy was introduced by Obwegeser. For many years, and in some countries still, this technique has defined the term oral and maxillofacial surgery. Bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO) of the mandible is one of the most frequently performed surgical procedures.

The sagittal ramus split osteotomy could be the procedure which defined the evolution of the specialty of oral surgery, the art, to the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery, the science. The basic design of the sagittal ramus split surgical procedure evolved very quickly. The elimination of the problems encountered has taken longer.
